Welcome to the 2013 USA Beach Officials Assigning and News Website

Officiating Opportunities... the season starts with Collegiate Sand!

March 6, 2013: As of this writing, Collegiate Sand schedules are nearing completion. Assignments are being offered and confirmed at this time. USAV and Professional Tour scheduling will follow. In general, we have to wait for the Event Calendars to firm up, before referee assignment can be offered. At this time, neither the FIVB nor the US Domestic Tour calendars, have been confirmed. But the Collegiate Sand events are largely ready...

COLLEGIATE SAND: Where do you start? If you haven't done so, please read our Sand 2013 Welcome letter. Then,we suggest that you browse our "Events Calendar" both can be linked to by the yellow tabs, above).

On our calendar you can see see what's coming up. If you're interested in specific events (especially events distant from where you live), please drop us a line directly.

Your "general interest" and your "availability" will be requested through two direct on-line Forms. We use these Forms as a "first pass" method of determining your interesest and availability without incurring the expense of using Arbiter.

Respond to our "Sand Availability Form" to indicate your availability for SAND events that we assign. If we assign you, then we'll add you to our Arbiter roster. This helps keep costs reasonable for you, but PLEASE NOTE: All assigned officials are required to contribute $20 toward the costs of maintaining our Arbiter/RefPay websites.

Respond to our "General Interest" Form to help us track where you hope to work. Assignment of Sand officials is being managed by a diverse and rapidly-changing group of both old and new assignors. We can help you "get connected"... by recommendation, or by simply making your name and email address available to the right people.

Sand Assigning by the Commission is done by a small, geographically diverse, committee. The group includes Steve Kenyon, Tony Chan, Crystal Lewis, Ron Pelham, Ray Mink and Keith Murlless. In addition, we coordinate with the various other assignors that manage geographic regions, or specific conferences or individual schools.

Steve Owen, as Commission Chair, serves as our assigning advisor. Of course, as in previous years, Steve Owen will be directly responsible for assigning for the Professional Tours, and for assigning all USAV events (including collegiate sand events that USAV hosts)
